Village Green and Kitchen Garden – Metal

OPPORTUNITIES AT METAL FUTURE PARK Wednesday 20th May 2009, 6:30pm Based on the successful work of Metal’s Future Station Volunteers Group in Liverpool, we are looking to develop a similar small group of individuals to help us shape the future creative life of Chalkwell Hall in Southend. If you are interested in helping us transform this historic building into an exciting and ambitious landmark arts project and developing your own ideas – we would love to hear from you. Our first meeting, held in conjunction with the Kitchen Garden will be held at the Environment Centre in Chalkwell Park on Wednesday the 20th May 2009 at 6:30 pm. VILLAGE GREEN THE KITCHEN GARDEN Wednesday 20th May 2009, 6:30pm Metal, working with visual artists, Ackroyd & Harvey and Southend Parks Team are creating a Kitchen Garden at Chalkwell Hall. The Garden will have four plots, growing vegetables, fruit trees, vines, hops and herbs and the beautiful Olive tree featured in the award winning garden of the 2008 RHS Hampton Court Flower Show. Would you be interested in getting involved? All our welcome – from the most experienced gardener, to the absolute novice. We can promise good fun, comaraderie, hard work and the pleasure of eating home grown, home cooked delicious food – it tastes much better! VILLAGE GREEN VILLAGE GREEN Saturday 26th September 2009, 11am – 10pm Back for 2009 Metal presents an exciting mix of arts, music, film, dance and sports for all ages in Chalkwell Park working with local and international talent. There are plenty of opportunities to get involved. Last year 240 artists from around the UK and overseas took part, alongside 46 local community organisations. Over 8,000 visitors to the park enjoyed a packed day. We are offering covered market stalls to artists and makers. These stalls will be a mix of artists selling work as well as artist-led participatory ideas, activities and games. There is no charge for the stall and no commission taken on sales.
