Spend quality time as a family

without it costing the earth.

Milton Community Partnership provides

trips and activities for families

through the school holidays.

All ages are welcome from babies to grannies.

All events must be prebooked and prepaid – no refunds.

All children must be accompanied responsibly at all times

by their adult parent/carer.

THE PROGRAMME

You can book for as many trips and activities as you like

All summer long: Discount vouchers for Adventure island

Buy your tickets at a special discount rate and use them whenever you like! Pay and collect when you come to book. A responsible person of 14yrs or over rides free when accompanying a junior band rider under 1.2m. Cost: 1.2m tall and over, £10, under 1.2m £7.

All summer long: We have some 2 for 1 vouchers with suggested trips

Why not team up with another family and take the train to London

Every Sunday morning 8am-9am: Tai Chi on the cliffs by Prittlewell Square (or in the hall if too wet)

Worth getting up for! Healthy, relaxing, energising. Suitable for older children and young adults of all ages. Try two sessions free. Then pay by donation to MCP each session.

Monday 27th July 2-5pm at The Mayor’s Lodge “Porters”, Southchurch Road: Garden Party hosted by the Mayor himself

Our version of the Queen’s garden party. Wear your posh clothes, or come as Knights and Princesses. Jousting, and flower garlands making. Delicious tea. Raffle with really posh prizes. Talent Show. Music and dancing. Beautiful elegant setting. Bring your camera. Cost: Adult £3 Child 3-18yrs £1 Under 3’s free

Wednesday 29th July: Hadleigh Farm and Castle with wind-toys making and flying

Animals and the maze and café. Picnic at the castle and fly your glider or kite, or make huge bubbles. Come prepared for any weather and bring picnic. Leave St Mark’s at 9:30am. Cost: Adults and children 3+ £3 under 3’s free

Saturday 1st August 10am-12noon: The Art and Soul Studio at St Mark’s hall

A relaxing morning for all ages getting creative. Bring an apron to protect clothing, and your ideas. Materials and drink provided. Cost: Adults and children over 2 £1, under 2yrs free

Monday 3rd August 1:30pm-3pm: Beach combing and Mud Safari

Discover what lurks in the mud! Meet at the Cliffs Pavilion to walk down the wheels-friendly route to the beach. Roger from the Southend Museum is our expert guide. You must wear Wellies or strong foot protection! Come prepared for any weather, bring snacks, and a bucket and spade. Cost: Adults and Children £1, under 2yrs free

Friday 7th August 10:30-11:30am at St Mark’s Hall: Family Movers

A great way to enjoy getting healthy and fit – dancing for everyone with funky music and refleshments. Ably led by Kerry. Cost: Adults and children £1 Under 2’s free

Saturday 2nd August 10am-3pm: St Mark’s Summer Fair

Fair-trade Café, make a mini-garden, play area, side-shows, dancing competition, book a market/craft stall for £5 if you wish. Entrance cost: 20p

Monday 4th August: Grays Beach

Giant sandpit with diggers, tube slides, spider climbing frame, crazy golf, pedal go-karts, Driving School, skate ramp (bring skates/skateboard) jet spray water play area, bouncy castle, nature trail prom walk, beach, Toddler area, café. Wear weather protective clothing and enjoy. Coach leaves St mark’s 9am, leaves Grays Beach 3:30pm Cost includes all activity wristband for children 4 and over: Adult £5, Child 4-16yrs £6, 3-4yrs £2 under 3’sfree

Thursday 7th August: Hockley Woods den making & day camp

Travel by train together to Hockley and walk into the woods. Bring picnic, weather protective clothing and dustbin bag to sit on. Hunt the teddy, make dens, play area, woodland games. Meet at Southend Victoria Station 10am.

Cost: Adult £5, Child 3-16yrs £2 Under 3’s free

Tuesday 12th August: Visit an Orchard and meet the wildlife

This is a local Growing Together project. Meet at our local orchard and explore the bugs with an expert. Fruit tasting included. More details at booking days.

Cost: Adult £2, Child 3-16yrs £1 under 3yrs free

Friday 15th August: Dance, Drums and Food – Africa day

St Mark’s Centre, 10:30am – 3pm. A day to remember – exciting, relaxing, fun and for all ages to share. Visit Africa without the air travel and keep a low carbon footprint! Bring a teeshirt to print.

Cost including lunch: Adult £4, Child 3-16yrs £3, under 3’s free

Monday 18th August: Family Yoga session with healthy refreshments

10am-12noon in St Mark’s Centre a healthy family chill-out with Yoga teacher experienced in working with all ages. Wear comfortable clothing to move in. Babies to granddads welcome! Only 30 places.

Cost: £2, under 2’s free

Wednesday 20th August: Colne Valley Steam Railway and farm

Ride a steam train, see working signal box, model railway, miniature railway, exhibition, Sidings buffet car plus farm with animals, activities, walks etc. Come prepared for all weathers and picnic.

Cost: Adult £10, child 2-16yrs £5 under 2’s free

Friday 22nd August: Kite making & flying Hadleigh Castle& Farm

Visit the animals and try out the café, make kites and fly them at the castle, bring a picnic, all-weather protection and dustbin bag to sit on.

Cost: Adults and children (3 and over) £3, under 3’s free

Tuesday 26th August: Enchanted Forest

Dark walk and Swing walk, Serpents’ lair, Dinosaur and Dragon valley, tree fern valley and Mystic Pool, the Double spiral, canal cruise, goats and deer, vineyard with shop, birds of prey, activity garden – a beautiful place to spend family time. Coach leaves St mark’s 8am, leaves Enchanted Forest at 3:30pm.

Cost: Adult £10 Young person 12-16 £8, Child 3-12 £5, under 3’s free

Wednesday 29th August: Pier, mud, fish &chips beach party

10:30-3pm a seaside fun time to end the holiday in style. Swim, paddle, ride a pier train, take part in sandcastle competition, explore the mud, and enjoy the fish and chips on the beach. Bring beach things and snacks, wear clothing to protect you from the weather – sun or rain. Meet at the lower entrance to the pier at 10:30am.

Cost including pier, fish and chips & ice cream: Adult £4 child 3-16 £2 under 3’s free
